Spyware
Spyware is any software which gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without their knowledge. Spyware is actually a legal way of tracking and gathering information on your computer. Once installed, spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. Spyware can also gather private information about email address and even passwords..
More broadly, spyware can refer to a wide range of related malware products which fall outside more strict definition of spyware. These products perform many different functions from traditional spyware, including the delivery of unwanted advertising (pop-up ads), re-directing page requests to illegally to claim site referral fees, and so on.
