Student Associations and Activities
The University sponsors the International Student Association (ISA) as well as student associations from different countries. The ISA encourages interaction between domestic and international students and also sponsors various activities during the year including the International Student Fair, FACES (an international cultural show), Thanksgiving dinner, spring games and field trips.
Farmer International House
Esther W. Farmer donated the Farmer International House to OCU in 1991. The house serves as an international student activity center with a mission of fostering peaceful interaction and understanding among people of all nations, races and cultures at OCU. Among the activities the International House promotes are English tutoring, Karaoke nights, movie nights, cultural activities, parties and seminars. The International House has a grand piano, pool table, ping pong table, TV and a stereo available for students' use. Students or groups may reserve the International House for functions.
FACES - A Global Arts Review
Jointly organized and presented by the international student bodies of OCU. FACES is a chance for international students to show off their talents and share their culture. It is a door for Americans to gain global awareness as well as cultural sensitivity. Scheduled every spring semester, all international students are invited to contribute and participate in this important and entertaining cultural event.
50/50 Friends
This program is designed to encourage regular interaction between domestic and international students. A domestic student and an international student are paired into two-member teams. They are encouraged to get together regularly on their own and to participate in activities organized by 50/50 Friends. Some activities include field trips, friendship visits and Karaoke Night. All OCU students are welcome to join this friendship club to help build a communal "small world" at OCU. Application forms are available at the ISO.
