The Windy City

Did you know that the Great Plains of Oklahoma cause Oklahoma
City to be the TRUE Windy City? Actually, Oklahoma City has
higher average winds than that other Windy City by Lake
Michigan. And that's not all that OKC offers at the crossroads of
America. Oklahoma City has one of the most unique museums
anywhere - The National Cowboy Hall of Fame. Some of the BEST
western art anywhere coupled with exhibits tracing one of the
great periods in American history - when a man with a horse
could become a veritable king of the prarie. And if your travels
take you to OKC...don't complain about being bored by the
scenery. Sure, the mountains are nowhere to be seen. But if
you're lucky enough to visit in the summer, you'll see fields of
wheat on the outskirts of town that would make Walt Whitman
swell with pride. If you travel 80 miles or so north up Hwy 81,
you'll also be able to visit The Museum of the Cherokee Strip in
Enid....where you can see how the pioneers at the turn of the
century built up a life for themselves with little more than a
horse, a plow, and a sod house. And if you do make it to Enid,
you'll have to eat lunch or dinner at the world famous Tijuana
Restaurant....a ramshackle looking place with a sign on the door
that proudly proclaims "NO Mexican food". What they do serve is
the best steak in all of Oklahoma...and I've eaten a ton of steaks
elsewhere before I'd make that claim. The t-bone steak at
Tijuana is one of those meals that your mind will remember almost
as readily as your first kiss. And get a side order of onion
rings...world class as well. See....Oklahoma has some real
attractions, after all. Don't you wish you could have one of those
sizzling Tijuana steaks this very moment? I hope you get a
chance to experience such a taste sensation at least ONCE in
your life.
